Tom’s Deli – Westbourne Grove

Headed off to Portobello with my friend Emily on Saturday and both decided to head to Tom’s on Westbourne Grove for a spot of lunch following a frantic stroll down Portobello. Along with Raoul’s (105 Talbot Road), this is one of my fave places to for casual brunch.

Tom’s is an adorable little cafe with a sweet shop on the ground floor, a deli downstairs, and a diner upstairs. With now a more extensive menu on offer, I still always go for the classic omelette of which you can choose two toppings (emmental, paris pink mushrooms, chives and Parma Ham). Also on the menu is of course the usual of Eggs Benedict, Royale etc, Sanwichs, Salads, Granola and a choice of healthy salads…

Indulge yourself with either the savoury or the sweet offerings as both as exquisitely delicious. But expect to wait a minimum of 10 mins for a table, especially on Saturdays as in draws in the Portobello crowd. It has a little garden at the back but again spaces are v limited. Further along the road is Tom’s direct competitor – Cafe 202 is better at offering outdoor seating. But Tom’s is still far more reasonably priced.

Omelette with Paris Pink Mushrooms and Chives – slightly under-salted, note to add cheese for flavour (£7.95)
Szechuan Chicken Salad with Ginger Dressing (£12.75)
Adorable Deli Shop Downstairs with Home-Made Cakes, Sweets from Across the World, Smoked Meats, Cheeses and Other Nibbly Bits

As you walk in, you enter the realms of an old fashioned sweet shop ranging from classic sweets from bonbons to my fave French tooth-hating sweet – the Carambar!
